2025 GRC Recap

Courses

Once again Park Hills was stellar!  The girls provided breakfast sandwiches, took lunch orders in the morning, and the course was as-always in tip-top shape!

Wolf Hollow on the other hand was shit.  Carts not ready, counter clerk agitated, unfriendly, and slow.

Edelweis Country Club in New Glarus Wisconsin was breath-taking.  Tight at times, extremely fast greens, but overall and incredible venue that our group will return to.

Monroe in Wisconsin had the most energetic management and staff welcoming our group and taking care of us throughout.  Unique layout, exceptional greens and views, and again, a course we will be playing again and again.  Half of our group ate at the facility and rated it very highly!

Awards

Winning team - (Smitty/J3W) Team Dale

MVP - Stinger (6-0)

Nice Guy - Jimmy Fagan

Gorilla - Mike Fagan

PoS - Paul Branshaw (1-5, arguments with Gehrke, Trendel, Alby, lack of prep for event)

KQI MVP and Captain - Mickey Smith

Captains Named for 2026

   Modz/Muzzy       vs      Quinn/Zizek

Summary

Matchups were done in such a way that noone played with or against anyone twice for the first 4 rounds.    This caused some lopsided pairings but overall everyone was happy with the layout.  The biggest upset in GRC history happened with Dave Albert and Peter Korbar taking down Richie Zizek and Mike Fagan in Scramble format at Wolf Hollow.  Dave Albert received MVP consideration for the magnitude of the accomplishment.  Mike Fagan also received the new Gorilla trophy for his throwing of a club as well as bruising co-captain Mickey Smith in the back of the leg on a chip.    Overall the score was a blowout with Smitty returning to form and helping dominate in his matchups along with Stinger.
