2026 GRC Summary
Captains Challenges
Quinn/Zizek destroyed Modz/Muzzy to win first pick. Egg challenge was a bust, literally as only 3 non-hardboiled eggs were broken on the (4) head-condomed captains. Modz struggled to name any sports star with the last name starting with an "O". Quinn was able to drink his Guinness twice as slow as Jimmy 3-Wood and coast into the next challenge. The Name-the-Spouses-Kids challenge was awesome as everyone got to hear Muzzy confidently go through all of the stripper names he could remember. Craziest non-answer was no captain could name anyone in the Rossetto family other than Ed. Outside to a balloon toss which meant nothing, all captains failed to a degree as the rubber was not as tough as it needed to be.
Draft
Mayhem broke out as Mike Fagan's complicated explanation of the drafting and requirement to draft yourself led to a fortunate mis-step by team DumpsterFire. An Undo followed by an Undo put Stinger on ShitShow and Smitty/Zajeski on DumpsterFire. Draft steals were Holmes at 16 and Brandshaw at 20. Modz/Muzzy drafting a rookie Clarida in the 18 spot was a massive risk but Bob clearly fit the "fun" rule Kevin/Rick decided prior to the draft.
Captain's Play
Modz
Record 7-0
Greenies 1
Still winless as a captain, Kevin did everything he could on the golf course. Literally all of his matches were not close and his only true opponent that can consistently challenge him on the course now is Jimmy Arnold. Key memory from 2026 will be Rossetto finding Kevin in his vehicle past 9pm appearing unresponsive (again). He was actually charging his phone and supposedly watching "family-centric" Facebook videos.
Quinn
Record 5-2
Greenies 2
Drafted the right players at the right time with Richie and worked very well with all players. Best round was with Zajeski against JJ and Cally at Edelweiss in the 6/6/6 format. Started round 3-0 as both he and Mike birdied the first hole. Won the next 4 before sharing .5 point on final hole of Best Score format. By the end, Cally demanded a 3-hole cash bet that went south as Quinn sank the final putt to end that match in style.
Richie
Record 5-2
Greenies 3
Named the most kids/spouses in the Captain's Challenge and was stellar in the draft. Started round 1 of the event getting 2 of the 4 greenies and helping win the first matchup. Clear moment in the event that pushed Richie to the MVP was making a golf adjustment to his swing to limit the draw on his shots off the tee. Finished 3rd in Hold'em, playing very well (always a solid card player) and once again at the top of the list for Best Dressed.
Muzzy
Record 1-6
Greenies 0
No one will know the true rage that led to a club throw, mysterious broken driver, and angst on the course. Muzzy had some tough, tough pairings and partners that really struggled, pushing his game south as well. He handled himself with class, took the award, and didn't let any of his internal rage affect teammates or friends in the event. Most memorable moment though was when an unnamed player won 2 straight horse races and then decided to cash out their winnings. That is a major poker foul and should have been waterboarded.
Course Notes
Park Hills again incredible as Jeff retires and the (4) rounds were totally enjoyable! Deer and turkeys were seen on the course along with a Muzzy, White Spoon, and a 3Wood.

Edelweiss was a bit of a drive, but green as can be, lightning fast greens, and challenging. Quinn's group enjoyed leers from an older golfer with his wives behind them. The slope on hole 18 was not fair. A good amount of golf balls were donated to the environment.

Monroe again extremely great as Craig was outstanding getting us in, feeding us, and providing for all "asks". Korbar almost gets a hole-in-one, and hitting 9-holes prior to a full round was a great plan.

Wolf Hollow's angry old man was replaced with an edgy older woman but the round was fine. It being close to the Brewing Company made it enjoyable, but to be honest, no bench by the Cat Plaque, no alligator, and a bell that is not gonging like it used to.
Food
Ed and the committee once again hit a home run with the scheduling and delivery of food. Lena Brewing Company was perfect in serving sizes, variety of beer, and atmosphere. The Protein station was still there and delivered some good shakes to a couple of us. Sampler platter was the meal to order along with curds. Monroe CC was awesome as well, seeing Craig not only work the pro shop but also help with delivering drinks and orders to our group. Again, stellar curds and appetizers, the pick for lunch here was definitely the walleye sandwich and zesty fries.
Highlight Restaurant of 2026 was Buggyworks in Monroe for dinner on Friday. Appetizers ranged from curds, pretzels, corn fritters, to salads. Main courses of fish, steak, Mexican bowls, and such hit the mark. Several did dessert (Clarida/Ed) with bread pudding, as well as cheesecake (Smitty/Paul).
Final meal Saturday never fails to satisfy as Mexican was awesome.
Key Takeaways
AI Pairings put Modz with the first group in almost all rounds. Bob Clarida's rookie year led to a new nickname (White Spoon) thanks to Jimmy, as well as an agreement by over 10 golfers that he can sweat through any material, including an entire bill on his hat. Jimmy Arnold helped Bob mid event with Tee strategy that got him hitting straighter and made him a happy man! Dave Holmes was a pleasure to watch golf overall despite some significantly gross growing knee swelling. Mickey, Joe, and Alby were all missed but referenced thousands of times daily and even the mini-Joe had photo ops throughout. Peter should be given the microphone at EVERY future draft for introductions (especially his own Brotha). Ego's were put in check in the family naming challenge - when given only 30 seconds and under the microscope, all of us would struggle. The JJ APB, Modz Truck, Trendel Cheese ball, Vitas digital talk, Cally acceptance of drinking prowess, and complexity of Draft order explained by Fagan will be remembered.

Undefeated and best golf play we have ever seen out of anyone this ADHD
Jimmy is only player that can battle Modz consistently evenly
Very, very sound play. Only blemish was losing to Modz in Match Play
Stellar rounds mixed with 2 shitty rounds. Led field with 5 greenies
Typical solid play throughout - emotional year
Was never going to suffer an upset like last year
MVP play, distance is coming back along with control of draw
Falling in rankings due to injuries and some struggle with anxiety
JJ still battles for best dressed and has a very good golf game
Fairways galore but lacks distance
Golf game explosive in wrong direction right now, it will change in 2027
Most improved middle round player - night and day difference from Club Modz
Needs to turn off cell phone, improve pace of play, and focus on course
Great to have back, struggled at times but did not play bad
Another improving Pete - top tier putting and short game
Travel Ball / Family is #1 and that is totally fine. Extremely athletic and with time will improve
Strength is in his ball control when in fairway
Can hit ball very far, needs to eliminate blowups and prepare better for GRC's
Easily Most Improved!!!
Rookie Season, strong off tee and long 3wood shots.
Questions to be Answered for GRC 2027
Will Joe/Peter use the AI spreadsheet or manually do pairings?
Will Clarida break one of Alby's other fingers to get back in 2027?
Will the Committee expand the roster to 24 and add Gehrke(sorry Paul), AB(no phone please), Clarida(providing more golf prep time), Trendel, and/or Brad North or VT?
Will the group stay at an upgraded lodging that has better amenities?
Will Jimmy Arnold break Modz's record of 16 rounds in a row without defeat?
Can Paul keep his profile picture or will it revert back to Young Su Lee due to his texting abuse?
Can Dave Holmes finally win a card game other than Euchre?
